I gave 4 stars instead of 5, because the instructions weren't entirely correct. It works perfectly, with no detectable speed loss. I am entirely satisfied. They stated to only plug into a wall outlet, not a power strip, I got it working using either. The other items plugged into the same outlet/power strip are what can cause the 2 adapters not to sync.
I purchased this item without realizing the server/client aspect of the product. As I see no reason for this limitation I returned the items and purchased a Netgear solution instead - client to client - which is exactly what I wanted in the first place.
Setup was easy, pretty much plug and play. I ended up returing these for these for the Netgear AV powerline models, as they were unable to stream HD video, and when connected to the same outlets, the netgear units got a higher speed. so if u just need a network connection/transfer files, internet, etc, these will work, and u really cant beat the price, but for more bandwitdth, look elswhere (5ghz N, or ethernet)
The is an excellent product for AC wired applications. I have several cameras being monitored without the interference I have experienced with wireless use. The only problem I have had is with my house is split into two phases and I cannot cross over. The lower cost re-conditioned units are well priced.
Takes no more than a few minutes including reading the direction. After being frustrated for years with Wi-if, err "Fi" and other over the air routers, the simplicity and reliability of this product is amazing. So easy - just plug and play after some easy first set up. Plus there is no need to set up confusing security that is needed for other solutions that can be hijacked over the air by drive by or your neighbors. Have found zero speed issues - downloads are as fast as my desktop which is wired to my DSL.Works great using the Roku streaming movie service (free with subscription to Netflix).
